Human needs seem endless. When a hungry man gets a meal, he begins to think about an overcoat. When a manager gets a new sports car, a big house and pleasure boats dance into view. The needs of mankind might be regarded as making up several levels. When there is money enough to satisfy one level of needs, another level appears. There are two factors which determine an individual’s intelligence. The first is the sort of brain he is born with. But no matter how good a brain he has to begin with, an individual will have a low order of intelligence unless he has opportunities to learn. So the second factor is the sort of environment in which he is brought up. You have been badly injured in a car accident. It is necessary to give you a blood transfusion because you lost a great deal of blood in the accident. However, special care must be taken in selecting new blood for you. If the blood is too different from your own, the transfusion could kill you. There are four basic types of blood: A, B, AB and O. A simple test can indicate a person’s blood type. Everybody is born with one of these four types of blood. Blood type, like hair color and height, is inherited from parents. Last week I visited one of my old neighborhoods in Washington D.C.. I had not been there for twenty years and as I walked along the street, my mind was flooded by memories of the past.
